My SCA Photos - Page 1

All photo subjects identified by name or whose faces can be clearly made out and identified appear by permission. (To me this means a stranger could see the photo and then recognize your face in a crowd.) Regardless of permission, I make a sincere effort to avoid posting pictures of easily identifiable faces of children or posting the names of children in association with any pictures (except where I am the subject). All pictures taken by anyone other than me also appear by permission. If I've posted a picture of or taken by you and you would like it removed, please let me know. I'll try to take care of it as soon as I can.

Then... ...and Now:
Pirate Kid Lord Carlo

Lord Carlo
all grown up:
somewhat
taller, still a
kid at heart.

As you can see, I've been growing this moustache for a very long time...

Juggler
This is me demonstrating
a little juggling at an SCA
demo event for the general
public, Mists of Albion,
prior to teaching some of
the guests (2003).

Juggler
And here's our friend
Dubheasa, whom
I've been teaching
to juggle, strutting
her stuff at the same
demo. Check out
that beautiful dress
she made for herself!

4 Musketooges
We hang out with Dubheasa
and Phillipe so much that
we've come to call ourselves
"The Four Musketooges".
Here we are at Katja and
Grendel's wedding. (2003)

Wedding Ceremony
It was a lovely ceremony.
Here we see the happy
couple; Best Man, Bill;
Matron of Honor, Katrina;
Reverend Comegys; and
Katja's mom, "Energizer"
Jean. That's Grendel's
heraldry at left.

Wedding Cooks
Ruairidh and Cadifor
were the head cooks
for the wedding. What
great food they made!

Lionheart and Sue
Each year, our Barony
of Thescorre puts on
a local event called
Pax Interruptus. These
are our friends Sue and
Lionheart at that event
in 2004.

Fighters
The SCA features
heavy fighting in
full armor with
weapons such as
rattan swords.
Here are some
fighters, also at
Pax Interruptus,
2004.

Fencers
There's also plenty of
period style fencing
in the SCA. These
two fencers are
facing off at Pax
Interruptus in 2004.

Their Excellencies
Seen here holding
court are the
previous baron
and baroness of
Thescorre, Cedric
and Peregrine, at
Pax Interruptus
in 2005. Behind
them are Phillipe
and Yasmina.

Eldjarn
This is our friend, Eldjarn,
in front of our pavilion at the
biggest SCA bash of the year,
the 34th Annual Pennsic War.

Pennsic Armies

During Pennsic, the armies of the known world (SCA Kingdoms)
amass to engage each other in several battles over the course of a week.
The war is between the East and Middle kingdoms, all others being
allies to one or the other. Here we see many of the combatants as they
gather and prepare to fight.

Pennsic Castle

Beyond the fighters is the fort that is used for battles each year. Though
there is only one official fort battle, it is sometimes used for other
purposes. At Pennsic 32, for example, it was the backdrop for a
fantastic nighttime Medieval fireworks display. In the foreground of
this photo are onlookers awaiting the day's fighting. Behind the castle,
"XXXIV" can be made out faintly on the hillside. (Each year, the
number of the war is mowed into the grass there in Roman numerals.)
