EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT

Shaun of the Stim

Celebrates:

Fun with Literalism*

Thursday, January 16, 2013
7pm - 9pm

Eastern Standard Time
Metaphors
Idioms
Proverbs
Euphemisms
Sarcasm
Exaggeration

When others speak figuratively or loosely, what do we, on the Autism Spectrum, make of it?

Come enjoy the literal interpretations of the expressions of others. What do these expressions make you think of?

Join us as we discuss which examples have particularly confused us, which were baffling in the past but are useable to us now, which we understand but find too awkward, silly, or uncomfortable to use (and why), how we've learned about these expressions, and how we've handles it when things have sounded strange or unclear during a conversation.

*This event was inspired by
threads of conversation on
 WrongPlanet.net
the online resource and community
for Autism and Asperger's.
